contact lenses in Willow Grove and Plymouth Meeting.

We Provide Contact Lens Exams & Fittings and a Full Selection

Contact lenses are the preferred choice of vision correction for many people. With modern materials and advanced technology, a wide range of comfortable contact lenses is currently available. Nowadays, there is a pair of contacts to fit almost every eye condition and vision prescription. At Bistline Vision Care Associates, we look forward to fitting our patients from Plymouth Meeting, Willow Grove, PA, and the whole region with the best contact lenses for quality vision.

What is a contact lens exam?

In order to fit you with the perfect, comfortable contact lenses, our eye doctor will examine your eyes to detect or rule out any pre-existing conditions that may interfere. A professional contact lens exam evaluates much more than your ability to see. We’ll perform a slit lamp exam to assess the health of your lens, cornea and inner eye tissues. With state-of-the-art equipment, our optometrist will take a detailed measurement of your eyes.

If you have an ocular condition that makes you hard-to-fit with contact lenses, we’ll take as much time as necessary to identify the most helpful lenses. When it comes to your eyesight, our experienced and compassionate optometrist will not take shortcuts or rush through your appointment.

What are the different types of contact lenses?

A full inventory of contact lens types is available in our Plymouth Meeting optometry office. Each type provides unique benefits and features to suit the visual needs of all our patients.

Soft Contact Lenses

Soft contacts are the most widely worn lenses in the US, and for good reason. They are generally comfortable contact lenses and feel great within seconds after you insert them for the very first time. Made from flexible materials that conform swiftly to your eyeball, soft lenses work well for a range of vision prescriptions. Many people with astigmatism, nearsightedness, and farsightedness enjoy their superior comfort.

Soft contact lenses include:

  • Disposables: worn during the day and discarded at night, these contacts never need rinsing or sterilization. They are incredibly versatile, and come in daily, weekly, and monthly versions.
  • Daily wear: worn throughout the day and removed at night, these contacts must be rinsed and disinfected nightly.
  • Extended wear: generally worn for one week at a time, these lenses can be kept in your eyes while sleeping. Sterilized only weekly, they are very convenient – yet also associated with a higher risk of eye infection.

Hard, Rigid Gas Permeable (GP) Contact Lenses

When soft contacts don’t grant crystal-clear eyesight or comfortable wear, hard contacts are often a superb alternative. Many hard-to-fit eye conditions are treated effectively with GP lenses. Highly permeable to oxygen, they are breathable, which reduces the risk of eye infection. When cared for properly, these durable lenses can last up to a few years.

When you begin to wear hard contacts, a short adaptation period is typical. It may take a bit of time until you feel that these are comfortable contact lenses. Yet within a few weeks of wearing GP lenses, many of our Willow Grove and Plymouth Meeting patients claim that their vision has never been better!

Toric Lenses & Specialty Contacts

A wide selection of premium, specialty lenses are presently on the market. If you have a vision condition such as keratoconus, presbyopia, or astigmatism, comfortable contact lenses are still possible!

If you have astigmatism, your eye doctor may recommend soft toric lenses that accommodate the irregular corneal curvature of your eye. Hybrid or scleral lenses may be ideal for keratoconus, and bifocal/multifocal contacts are an effective way to see sharp with presbyopia.

If you’re looking for a creative way to change your appearance, colored or tinted contact lenses are also offered.

Follow-Up Eye Care

Contact lens eye exams are an important part of our expert eye care services. We will check your eyes thoroughly to ensure ocular health and rule out any complications that could arise from wearing contact lenses. Our optometrist will evaluate the condition of your lenses to verify that you are disinfecting and caring for them correctly. In addition, a change in your prescription or type of lenses may be necessary for long-term comfortable contact lenses and crisp vision.

Whether you’ve been wearing contacts for years or you are interested in starting to wear them, we invite you to come in for a consultation and eye exam with our friendly optometrist!

We look forward to seeing new and returning patients from Plymouth Meeting and Willow Grove, PA.
