During the COVID-19 pandemic, our office is trying to keep the doctors, staff and patients as safe as possible. To this end, the Optomap retinal imaging procedure is now required by our doctors because it is the safest way to check the health of your retina and avoids prolonged close contact between doctor and patient as is normal with a dilated eye exam.

This screening procedure can monitor for retinal complications including macular degeneration, glaucoma, and retinal holes or detachments. It may also detect systemic health diseases with early signs in the retina such as hypertension, diabetes, auto-immune disorders, and others.

The Optomap®Retinal Exam:

  • Is as fast as taking a picture.
  • DOES NOT REQUIRE DILATING DROPS.You may not need to be dilated today, potentially eliminating a 30-minute wait and avoiding side effects such as blurry vision and light sensitivity.
  • DOES NOT REQUIREprolonged close doctor-patient contact
  • Will be saved in your file enabling your optometrist to make important comparisons during your annual eye exam.

We are committed to providing you with safe and thorough care.Due to COVID-19 this technology is now our standard of care.

The fee for the Optomap is $39 and may or may not be covered by insurance.
