Dr. Kevin Bistline O. D.

Dr. Bistline grew up in Lansdale, PA and completed his undergraduate studies at Arcadia University (then Beaver College) in Glenside, PA where he graduated with honors receiving his B.A. in biology. He received a secondary Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) in August 2005. In May 2008 he received his Doctorate in Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry with honors in his clinical rotations. These clinical rotations included study and practice of optometry in its various disciplines under several prestigious optometrists including Richard L. Brilliant, OD, FAAO, Neil W. Draisin, OD, FCOVD, and Stephen E. Morse , OD, MPH, PHD.

Dr. Bistline’s extensive post-academic clinical work through the Pennsylvania College of Optometry began with a rotation in primary care optometry just outside of Asheville, NC. Here, Dr. Bistline practiced and studied under the direction of Dr. Lester Stowe and Dr. Susan Wise. Dr. Bistline has had a close relationship with Dr. Stowe since childhood as he was a close friend of Dr. Bistline’s uncle, Dr. Charles Dowsett, whom had a very successful optometric practice in Asheville, NC for many years. It was a great opportunity for Dr. Bistline to study under a childhood mentor and his wonderful partner, Dr. Susan Wise, while further developing his optometric skills in a primary care private practice setting. Dr. Bistline then went on to study and practice under the direction of the above mentioned Dr. Stephen Morse. Dr. Bistline worked with Dr. Morse at both the Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in Charleston, SC and the Feldberg Center for Vision Rehabilitation as part of Storm Eye Institute at the Medical University of South Carolina. During this time, Dr. Bistline cared for patients with all levels of visual impairment whether it from trauma, disease or congenital/hereditary reasons. Dr. Bistline’s time with Dr. Morse has proved invaluable in his understanding of the medical side of optometry as it exists today and in his ability to treat and care for patients with varying states of ocular health. Dr. Bistline then went on to study and practice under the direction of the above mentioned Dr. Neil Draisin at his practice also in Charleston, SC. Dr. Bistline was able to work with Dr. Draisin at his extremely successful and renowned vision therapy and contact lens practice.Dr. Bistline further increased his skills in complicated and challenging contact lens fitting, learning that with the appropriate care almost all patients are able to wear contact lenses successfully. He was also able to learn much about and participate in the enacting of appropriate vision therapy for patients with a variety of visual deficits and learning disabilities. Finally, Dr. Bistline returned to Philadelphia, PA to work and study under Dr. Richard Brilliant at the William Feinbloom Rehabilitation Center at The Eye Institute. Here, Dr. Bistline cared for patients with extraordinary visual deficits of varying kind with need for specialized care and training to reach their specific goals regarding their vision and quality of life. Dr. Bistline is nationally board certified and licensed in Pennsylvania in the treatment and management of ocular disease. He practices full scope optometry including, but not limited to, the treatment of glaucoma, dry eye, various infections of the eye, ocular allergies and corneal abrasions as well as the detection of ocular conditions such as cataracts, macular degeneration, and other systemically derived ocular diseases such as hypertension and diabetes. Dr. Bistline practices complete family eye care from as young as 4 years of age to seniors. He specializes in contact lens care, including more specialized fittings such as toric lenses for astigmatism, multifocal lenses for trouble with vision at near and contact lenses for dry eye patients. Dr. Bistline started his own practice, Bistline Vision Care Associates, PC, in May, 2011. He is the sole owner and primary provider at Bistline Vision Care Associates, PC, located inside LensCrafters at the Plymouth Meeting Mall in Plymouth Meeting, PA. Dr. Bistline has practiced at this location since 2009 while under his previous employer, Gary Andrus & Associates, PC. Dr. Bistline has enjoyed a close relationship with LensCrafters as a sales associate and optician beginning in 1999, then as an optometric technician at one of the independent doctor’s offices during his undergraduate work prior to entering optometry school and now as an independent doctor and practice owner located inside a LensCrafters’ location. Dr. Bistline is encouraged by LensCafters’ continued support of optometry and investments in precision eyewear and customer service for his patients. He is an active member of the American Optometric Association, Pennsylvania Optometric Association, and the Bucks Montgomery Optometric Society and served as Vice president of his class for a year during his optometric training. Dr. Bistline is an active “big brother” and supporter of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeastern Pennsylvania organization and enjoys mentoring and spending time with his “little brother”. He and his practice support various charitable groups including OneSight, a charity that helps give the gift of sight to those in need here and around the world. In memory of Dr. Bistline’s mother, Bistline Vision Care also supports Free to Breathe, a charity for research and awareness around Lung Cancer and its various forms. Bistline Vision Care is a partial sponsor of the Free to Breathe annual 5K race held in Philadelphia. He and his team, including current and past staff as well as friends and family, participate in the 5K annually as well. Dr. Bistline grew up in Lansdale, PA and currently resides nearby in Montgomeryville, PA with his wife, Alysun. Dr. Bistline has enjoyed extensive travel throughout his life including studying abroad in Australia, visiting several countries in Europe, Hawaii and the usual suspects for sunny spots in the Caribbean and hopes to continue to make seeing the world a priority in his life. Dr. Ashley Hudson received a B.S. in Biology, with a concentration in Pre-Medical Studies, at Oakwood University in Huntsville, AL. She went on to obtain an additional B.S. in Biology and her doctorate in Optometry, specializing in Low Vision. Dr. Hudson has been practicing since 2010.

Dr. Hudson was born and raised in Boston, MA. Her journey in eye care began at age two as a patient; having to wear a patch over one eye and attend vision therapy sessions. Dr. Hudson’s desire to be in the eye care profession started as admiration for her eye doctor and grew into a personal interest and life goal.

Her practice philosophy is simple…”to treat, care, and value each patient as if they are a family member, which means introducing patients to the latest technology and innovations to provide optimal vision and ocular health; and also ensure that each patient has an understanding of their refractive status and ocular health before they leave my office.”
